Finally I can get some honest opinions and answers
What’s up fellas soo I just recent purchased my first Honda and it happens to be a 88 CRX .. i love the car and how it looks just not sure about the front bumper, soooo I can potential get a 90-91 bumper , my question to y’all is..., does it fit using factory 88 bumper support or do I have to get that support off 90-91 as well ??
I used to own a 90 hatchback and they did the same thing in those years. 88&89 were identical and 90&91 were slightly different. I want to say everything you have should swap over without issues. It's basically the same car with a minor change. I can't imagine any car company changing these parts so drastically that you would have to replace everything to install a bumper.
Most car companies change their production line up every 4-5 years but still use the same basic platform. But why Honda did this in 2 years and just changed the style very slightly on the same exact car. I know for a fact that the Civic in 88-89 had a different corner light with 2 screws visible on the outside where 90-91 used a single hidden screw behind the corner light. And the seatbelt was part of the door on the 90-91 where the 88-89 was on the middle pillar. And the last thing I can remember was the rear tail light was a single brake light with a black middle filler on the 88-89 while the 90-91 used a double bulb with matching red reflector center. As far as I know most of these were interchangeable.
I think the biggest part is finding mounting points and what they are connected to. Compare these with yours and see what you need. I hope that helps. And good luck.
