97 Civic HB. CEL P-0441
I have a 97 Civic DX that has always been very reliable and well cared for. My CEL came on recently with a P-0441 code. ( EVAP / Purge Flow issue. )
Has anyone dealt with this? The car runs fine for the most part but tends to hesitate bad when the tank is around a quarter full. Feels like it is running out of gas.
I am trying to pinpoint what part of the EVAP system needs to be replaced. Any insight or thoughts would be appreciated. Already replaced the cap since it is a cheap attempt.

I replaced the EVAP Purge Solenoid Valve and the CEL went off but I still have the same sputtering and hesitation symptoms that it feels like I am running out of gas when I get below a half a tank. When it acts up like this, I pull over and turn the engine off. When I restart the car, it drives fine with no sputtering or hesitation for about a mile and then it starts acting up again. I will make it to nearest gas station and fill up. Usually takes about 7 gallons and the car drives fine again until I get below a half a tank again. What should I try next?
Any real or pending codes currently stored in ECU?
Have you recently done a full tune up?
(Tune up = plugs, plug wires, rotor, ignition timing and fuel filter.)
In addition, sputtering and hesitation when the gas level is low may be caused by an old damaged fuel pump sock. Inspect it.

In the recent past couple months I have replaced the Fuel pump, Fuel filter, IAC Valve, new Plug wires, new NGK plugs, new cap and rotor, changed out all fuel injectors, swapped out distributors, and installed new purge control solenoid valve. I have not checked if there are any codes still in the ECU since there is no CEL on currently. I will check again and let you know. do you still think I need to check fuel pump even though it is only been on the car for 2 months?
How did you check the ignition timing? What outcome indicated that the timing is good?
