Won’t start / sometimes does 99 accord
Hey guys I’ve done a little research but the trouble I’m having is a little different. It’s a 99 accord dx Manuel with a f23. My uncle was having problems with it randomly stalling and sometimes wouldn’t start. It sit for a long time till I bought it. First off it wouldn’t start at all, I ran some tests and found out it needed a fuel pump. So just for the heck of it I put a new main relay and a new fuel pump. Runs great! But the problem with it not starting sometimes and cutting off randomly is still there. I know it has a chip in the key. Could this maybe be a issue? Sometimes when I turn the key to the start position my dash light won’t even come on... then I wiggle it or turn it a little more and they come on. Any help would be appreciated and I hope I posted in the correct place. I’ll add a video if that might help. Thanks in advance!! Of course it wants to start fine now, and the only code that I have is a secondary o2 sensor
Thank you for the reply! I’ll give this a try. I was thinking it may have something to do with the key.
I did just that and it fixed my problem. Starts as it should every time now. Thank you!

Re: the video... "very easy to steal"! Oh boy. So much for the usefulness of a chip key. I just hope that my '99's manual transmission may be at least somewhat of a deterrent. I can see why these are in great demand, not just the styling. I'm vacuuming and washing mine today, the upholstery looks hardly worn, amazing for a 21 year old car. I've seen some half the age that are significantly torn/worn.
Glad to see the trouble is resolved.

Most cars are much easier to steal than people suspect. If someone really wants a car, they will get it. Hotwiring, breaker bars on the steering column, frequency generators, etc are at their disposal. It just depends on whether they think your car is worth it to someone else, for parts or the whole thing. The parts business alone brings more value than the car all together. It's why I find it so amusing when people get upset for posting about how to bypass these things. Believe me, if we know, that means thieves have known it for years before us.
Like you, I'm impressed at how the interior has held up.
And you are right about the manual, the average casual thief probably skips over it today.

mine was my aunts that passed away years ago and my uncle got it. He drove it for awhile but started having that issue so he parked it. Sadly it sat, but kinda good for me lol It’s getting kinda hard to find 5 speeds. interior is pretty much mint and it’s all stock besides me lowering it. Got it for a awesome price to. I have a ek hatch and I tell ya this accord is fantastic! I love it more than my hatch lol. And the problem I was having is still gone so I’m happy!!
