Default Troubleshooting: Tachometer bounces around 5k-7k. Signal issue?

Hi I have a 96 gst with a b20 vtec in it and when I'm in vtec and above 5k the tach starts bouncing around in between 5k and 7k. Dose any one know what it might be I have no codes. Thanks

Weak ICM in your distributor. If you have an aftermarket distributor, this is almost certainly your issue. Check your ignition coil as well.

I have the oem gsr distributor

That means the ICM in the OEM distributor you have is weak. you can change it with another or use an upgraded internal one from ACCEL .

accel that dont make icm they make coils so I ordered one and I also have another oem igniter so I'm gonna try both of those hopefully it fixes the problem.

I'm saying try the coil first and see if thar helps. if not, change the ICM ignitor.

I bought the accel coil and I just realized it's a Chinese distributor so you think it be a safe bet to swap out ignites for the oem Hitachi igniter too
