Default D16Z6 Stock Connecting rods maximum compression ratio.

Hey everyone,

I want to know if the d16z6 stock rods wil hold a compression ratio of 12.5:1?

I have the plans to let them cryo treated, but i want to know if thats realy necessary.

Thanks.

They will be fine. Stock d rods hold about 220ish whp. I would do arp rod bolts though.

Thankz for your answer. but when i read here, 220hp on boost is a different force then a cr of 12.5:1 right?
what when 7 pounds of boost will be compressed? Will it also be a around 12.5:1? less i think?

Your over thinking it. My d17 stroker has stock rods and arp rod bolts, 11.5 to 1 comp and got revved to 8250 on the dyno and never had a hiccup. They will be fine.

i would think you would want to compare torque at a given RPM rather than peak power to get an idea of cylinder pressure similarity.

9.6:1 vs 12.5:1 is a 30% increase in compression of, let's assume atmospheric pressure (14.7psi). 7psi from a turbo is almost 50% increase from atmospheric. this is just back-of-the-napkin reckoning for gut-check. but i think it's good enough.
