D17a1 automatic to d17a2 manual swap
If you're thinking of doing this swap I recommend you read this to the very end.
Ive seen a lot of d-series swaps on here but haven't seen one like this. I have a 2003 civic lx sedan. Always wanted to learn to swap engine and convert to manual so I did some research and got started. Im not finished with the project. Still have to get my Old key reflashed to the new ecu in order to bypass the imobilizer.
What you'll need for the swap;
D17a2 complete motor
d17 manual trans
Left side trans mount
Rear trans mount
Drivers side Axle.
Manual subframe (I bought new lower control arms and accompanying bolts because my old ones were decrepid)
Flywheel(bolts and bearing as-well)
Clutch
Clutch pedal assembly
Manual brake pedal (the automatic brake pedal is bigger and will run into the clutch pedal.)
Clutch master cylinder(and all the bushings and clips, go to "Honda genuine" diagrams to see how everything comes together)
Clutch slave cylinder(The manual trans I bought came with one)
Clutch line( I recommend you buy a steel braided one, the OEM hardline is a pain to install and rusts like crazy.)
Starter(My motor came with one, but I still recommend you buy a new one b/c ya never know the condition of the one u have)
D17a2 wire harness
D17a2 ECU
Shifter assembly and Shift linkage (Make sure you have the mount for the shift linkage to attach to your trans.)
The manual Radiator is different than the automatic one, there are ways to modify the auto one to work so if you're on a tight budget, do that.
Honda Genuine MTF
Coolant
5w-20
Dot 4 brake fluid
spark plugs
I'd like to state that this swap is not desirable for the cost. If I did better research and if I knew that a lot of my hardware and parts were rusty and in horrible condition I would have just invested the extra 1k or 2k to do a k20 or k24 or b-series swap. (my car has spent its life in Michigan so the snow has destroyed a lot.) This swap requires taking almost everything out, all the way down to the subframe. At this point with a bit of determination you could order custom mounts to mount any k series or b series. Giving you the option to go turbo or just make 205hp with a k-series. BUT doing the swap I did is worth it in some sense. Its an extremely reliable engine (my old motor went to 240k miles). Plus its always fun to bang gears in a nuggety civic.
The reason I did this swap is because I did not want to spend 8k on a new car when I can spend 3-4k on a restoration and have a car I know absolutely everything about and can diagnose almost any problem. Also, I bought either new or slightly used parts. This way extending the life of this car. Plus I love working on cars, there's nothing like drinking a few beers with your mates and trying to manage 400lbs into the small space that is the 7th gen engine bay.
LMK if you want to know my build procedure or pics.

I have a 04 EM2 coupe engine and starter so I need the entire MT wire harness or can I get away with just the transmission part. I already have a D17A2 VTEC. I know everything else I need it's just the wiring thats messing with my head.
