Friend just got a 1995 del Sol. The trunk release lever on the floor or the key will not open the trunk. It seems that something is broken in the trunk latch linkage. I saw on YouTube a video on opening the trunk by forcibly breaking the right taillight and removing it to gain some access to the trunk latch mechanism but I'd rather not do that.
Sounds like the lever bar is broken off the latch and is smacking around when you turn the key.
I suspect the Sol has the same issue the 8th gen does. No trunk entry outside of popping the trunk. The seat fold downs are in the trunk so on the 8th gen, same issue happens if the latch ever gets mangled, you have to destroy a seat to get into the trunk.
I was really surprised with this being the 5th gen it's a *** you lift from the back seat on the hatches. Should always have a latch on the rear seats to drop them down to get access into the trunk. This prevent having to cause damage in the event the trunk latch ever stops working.

It looks like we will have to break the right taillight to gain access. My friend is hoping there isn't a dead body in the trunk. =P
dont know if its too late or not but this guy drilled a small hole where the release lever was and was able to hit it without needing to break the light unfortunately pics are broke but maybe the description helps its well written. https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-...5Iyr72YQA05zqs

Yes, that is very descriptive. I'll give it a shot this weekend. He bought a D16Z6 drivetrain to replace the S engine. Previous owner replaced original D16Z6 with a del Sol S engine because it was cheaper than rebuilding Z6 or getting another Z6 motor.
