I took my lump apart to give it a clean up and in the process the tps snapped in part of the rotating assembly of the sensor - it was previously set to about 0.47 at idle and 4.48 at WOT. I had a spare tps which i fitted but for some reason it's reading pretty much the opposite - 0.45 at WOT and 4.45 with the throttle shut.
Has anyone experienced anything like this before? I've tried to fit it in so many different ways but I can't get it anywhere close
You probably have the pins swapped at the connector, specifically ground and 5V. Do you have a multimeter? Did you do work on the loom while the engine was out?

Thanks for the reply mate. I hadn't done any changes to the loom as all tucking was done long before I decided to paint the engine. The replacement is a genuine Honda one aswell as I dont like using mickey mouse parts, they're more hassle than it's worth
OK I've just had a look at the wiring to the plug as I noticed its had a plug swap on it in the past and I think the wires were mixed up when they done the plug swap. I never noticed as I reshelled the car and had to convert the engine to obd2a but not actually drove it
as the colours do not correspond to pictures I've seen online
Don't know what to tell you. Sounds like you have a customized loom and you have some detective work to do. I'm not familiar with OBD2A ecu pinout off the top of my head, but I recognized those color combos right away.
The MAP sensor has its own dedicated 5V power and sensor ground while the TPS shares its with the other 5V sensors, but they are all connected internally in the ECU.

You are 100% correct that it's a map plug, at some point the tps plug on this loom was replaced with, you guessed it, a map plug. They also wired it colour to colour without noticing the trace colours of each. I had a spare tps plug, wired it in the correct order and now it's running perfectly and the voltages are reading how they should. Thanks for your posts and information
