Default Do these ET's sound right?

I have a 91 DX hatchnack w/
'95 sohc vtec bottom end w/ 11:0-1 arias pistons with stock '91 integra rods
'98 sohc vtec Head package by Gude; port, polish, throttle body, cam, intake manifold, cloverleaf combustion chamber work.
Still running OBO 0 ecu,dist

Car runs really strong on the street but has kind of disapointing times at the track.
At Firebird International Raceway my car ran a 14.0@108 on 13" slicks. Without nitrous or VTEC, I had a pretty decent 60ft time w/2.1 so car is kinda hooking up. According to Gude with the compression and head work i have i will not be able to use VTEC (????) Car has full interior stock struts w/ coilovers. Any suggestions on how to improve track time??? THANX!

the only thing that shouldn't allow you to use vtec is if the head package doesnt include vtec cams or the ecu isnt compatible. 14.0 is pretty respectasble from an sohc, but obviously can get better. What displacement do the integra rods give you? Maybe a tune up, sounds like an interesting setup.

um unless gude didnt give you a vtec head or cam or both is the only reason you cant use vtec.i dont think your c/r has anything to do with the equation

Ok first off Mad Props for hitting 14 secs i have a civic that stock hits18.5 so whit the work you hvae done according to my past times and my mechanics kknowledge of what you have done thats about right You could possibally get a lil bit more from going ahead And changing your radiator to something like a flidyne it does make a difference and make sure yuo have good spark plugs and wires a lot of people dont thnk that it does much but it can make the difference in 2 or 3 tenths of a sec and go ahead and rip your ac out if you have it cause that robs hp and dont forget to make sure you have adjustable cam grears adn advance your timming a lil bit and you should hit about 13.7 at least
i gained 4 tents of a sec by adjusting my timming

I wondering about that trap speed. 108? Sounds awfully fast for 14.0. I did 13.9@98.

man u did 13 some on 98mph... **** i did 16.2 at 89.3mph (hf tranny/sucked)
i haven't been to the track but now with the si tranny it feels way better, hopefuly 15.5sec. i'll learn after winter!

14 flat with a sohc it's really nice, but i can only imagine how much you paid for that package and not to be able to use vtec??? that's shity!

I think the 108 trap speed is great. That it a 12 sec 1/4 mile trap speed. However, your 60' sucks. Especially with slicks. Once you get a 60' of 1.8 and lower your time will start to look much better. It sounds like you are bogging it off the line or the car doesn't have much low end. If the v tec is stuck in the "On" position, you might want to switch it off for better low end.

Hmmm I dont know about you but when I launch I usaully launch already in VTEC.....low end huh?

The reason his ET is off is because his track is at elevation.....dont know for sure but I think 18-2200 ft above sea level.....I would think with a 108 trap though either he is launching too low and bogging off the line or still using too small a slick and spinning.

If the lift on the cam is crazy then I could see why VTEC was deleted......ever heard of VTEC killer cams......there have been a few non-vtec 1.8L to hit 12's running no vtec with huge lift profiles....not really a "daily" setup IMO but for race I guess it works for them.

Although you would think they should have some pistons with valve reliefs big enough to accomodate high comp with big lift? Didnt Landspeed's SOHC have VTEC and made something like 200 hp (dont know if it was whp though) and then that guy from Cali with 12.5:1 comp in his SOHC....he still had VTEC. Interesting....

this thread cracks me up. looks like all the "dreamers" have shown up for their new buddies post. come on low 14s just by addin slicks to ur bone stock 9? civic dx w/SI swap. yeah right. where do u think 8/10ths is goin to come from with a torqueless motor. certainly slicks aint goin to get u runnin 1.6 60s.

and to the original poster. w/ ur 11:1 compression ratio, i highly doubt gude knows what they r talkin about. the problem with their **** is because they MILL THE HEAD, REGRIND the cams and whatever else they do i have no idea. all i know is that for the price u spend on that CRAP it sure is alot for dirt cheap. doesnt quite add up does it????

Hondaatwsu shut up man. Your input doesn't help at all.

I am betting that Gude has milled the head quite a but so you probably have much higher than 11:1 compression.

Can you post your entire timeslip please. 108 mph with a 2.1 60 just sounds like BS. 108MPH is good for mid 12s on slicks.

Have you ever dynoed the car?

i already bet that they milled the head. **** they milled the damn head so much they think they rendered VTEC unusable. a whole hell of alot of good it does to have a VTEC head w/o VTEC.
