2000 DX hot soak starting problems
Getting tired of this damn car. Get one thing squared away then it's something else. Anyways seems like when my daughter drives around and the car is at operating temp. If she cuts it off, it won't start until it's cool down.
Yesterday she told me her radio all of a sudden stopped working. Well she had to run a couple errands so I'd look when she gets back. Well she calls me that car won't start. I go to jump her, but mind you it's a 2000 minute drive to where she broke down. I get there and horn and all the electronics work fine, just the car won't crank. Well I hook up cables to it and Rev my truck a few min then it starts.
So she gets home and I go out there immediately when she gets home and try to start the car and nothing. Everything is lit up and horn sounds strong, just no crank. Check battery and it's 12.86 volts.
Well I get up this morning, go to check the car and it fires up immediately and the radio works fine. What the hell is wrong with this car?
I seen possible main relay located by glove box or temp sensor. Is there a way I can test either of those? Thanks fellas
Sorry for long story

This actually sounds like the ICM or the ignition coil inside the distributor is going bad. Very common problem when the engine gets hot it wont want to start up until it cools down, test the ignition coil as its more common for that to go bad before the ICM.
Even if the coil was bad, the engine should still crank over right? I'm not getting anything from the engine. Just a click. All accessories and horn work and light up fine. Just the engine wont move. It also has a new starter in it, that's been replaced
ICM = Ignition Control Module. It's the other replace able part inside the distributor.
Have you tested the starter? When it won't crank is the starter clicking?
I'm not sure why heat would affect the starter but if it is not cranking over either the starter isn't working or power/ground is not being supplied to the starter. If I recall there is a starter relay in conjunction with the main relay.

I haven't had the starter checked. It's only got a few hundred miles on it. I'm hoping it's just an issue in the main relay. She already ordered the part so we'll see

Check to see if the power plug is plugged in all the way in the starter, it has a black boot over it and they get pulled out slightly and loose the connection.
