Default Camshaft Choices - 500whp LS-V

Hello, I wanted to inquire the masses and see what a recommended camshaft is for
my setup. The motor I purchased comes with BC turbo camshafts but I’ve done some research and heard some horror stories about them snapping and such.

This is just a street car build with 500whp as the goal on pump and what ever I can make on c16 (whatever my fuel limitations are). Weekend warrior build that will see minor track time. Head:
B16
Super tech flat valves
Skunk2 Pro valve springs
Skunk2 Pro retainers
Skunk2 LMA’s
Ported and Polished
3 angle valve job
Brian crower stage 2 turbo camshafts
Brian crower adjustable cam gears

Ls block
Golden Eagle sleeved (82mm/oring)
Aries piston (10:1)
Upgraded wrist pins
Manley turbo tuff ibeam rods

Turbo:
STC interceptor, .63 ar
LoveFab sidewinder B series manifold (a2w setup)
Tial 44mm WG
Greddy Type S BOV

Misc:
Skunk2 Ultra Street manifold
Skunk2 70mm TB

Fuel:
Undecided pump, currently have a walbro 255
ID injectors (havnt decided size, 1000 minimum)

Transmission:
GSR trans
Mfsctory LSD
Carbon sycros
Ls 5th gear

Goals - 450-500whp on pump, 500+ c16

(Two tunes)

wrote this on my phone so ignore any typos

Thanks

Improper installation would be the only reason a camshaft fails... regardless of what brand they might be. I have been using BC products for as long as they have been an entity and have NEVER had a problem. There is no factual reason to be afraid of those camshafts.

There's nothing wrong with the BC Turbo cams and they are bigger than B16A cams. It's just been shown that GSR/ITR/CTR cams actually make more power than these "Turbo grinds" from BC and Crower. Proper B-series turbo cams from GSC and Kelford only appeared on the market much later and shouldn't be grouped with the above statement.

I know of many 2JZ guys locally using BC cams and valvetrain and they're a solid, high value product.

Since you already have them, run them...the primary lobes are larger than the OEM Honda cams so your VTEC switchover isn't as aggressive and they should make more torque and mid-range power. If you don't hit your power goals then look into something like a GSC T1/Skunk2 Pro 1/Kelford B

I'd go with some Skunk2 Tuner1's. Seem to be the camshaft of choice.

Thanks fellas!

I am going to just keep them in for now. The motor is fully assembled but never turned over. As mentioned if I don't make my goals ill look at the GSC cams but rock what I have for now. Plenty of other things I need anywho before i upgrade or change things around more.

At that level, the Sk2tuner1 would be a good pick. Or a ITR/CTR if you can find a set reasonable.
