Popping out of second gear
Hello, I have a type s swapped ek and recently replaced the bellhousing on my trans due to a cracked case which was leaking. When I swapped cases i grabbed the mainshaft, countershaft, and forks and swapped them over to the new case, which is a base 5 speed rsx (same bellhousing). I did not take apart the gears whatsoever. I checked the mainshaft thrust for the new case combination and had the right shim already installed using this diy https://www.clubrsx.com/threads/diy-...stment.638721/ . I checked the shift cables and made sure nothing was hitting the shift selector on the trans. Detent bolts, springs, and ***** are all there with upgraded speedfactoy springs. Shift forks show no visible damage. Diff shim was also checked and in spec. So I put it all back together and drive it and now 2nd gear is popping out only when i let off the gas or hit the clutch. 1st gear does not pop out but the gear lever moves foward pushing it into gear more when I let off or hit the clutch. 3,4,5,6 all engage and drive fine only 1-2 are acting up. 1-2 will drive and stay in gear as long as I stay cruisng. This leads me to believe that the countershaft which 1-2nd gear selectors are on are moving axially in and out when decelerating.
I since then taken the trans back out and inspected all the gears and shims again but could find nothing wrong. 1-2 sliders and synchro teeth look good with minimal wear. The transmission was perfect before the swap minus the leaking trans, no pop outs, grinds, or noises. I don't understand how the new clutch case could cause this. Faulty countershaft bearing clip not engaged all the way when installed maybe? Need any ideas before i reinstall the transmission, kind of clueless on this one. Thanks for looking

You must make sure the counter shaft is locked into the transmission case bearing clip. This can be difficult in some transmission cases. For those pesky ones, you may have to turn the transmission over with the gear case facing down and "bounce" the transmission on a 2x6 to seat the counter shaft into the clip.
