Default 96 Honda p1298 question

Ok so I have been scouring the forums reading up on the p1298 code.i don't have 15 blown fuse.but I do have a aftermarket radio that likes to act up. It's wired in correctly but am curious if the radio is bad could that be causing the code? I had checked for codes before I put it in and had nothing. Well I decided to check codes and had this one pop up. Before I go digging into it just wanted to get a idea if this could cause it.

What the radio does is if I turn on the car It will act as if it is off. So I hit the power button but than I have to hit it again for it to come on. Other times it will just come on when I start the car..I pulled it from my other car I'm restoring and never had that issue.

Error Code P1298 is defined as Electric Load Detector Circuit High Voltage. This means the ELD (Electric Load Detector) is getting high input voltage.

Are you sure the radio is wired in properly? double check the ground and power source to the radio, what you can also do is remove the radio completely , unplug the battery to reset the ECU code and or use a cheap scan tool to erase the code and start the engine to see if the code pops up again, this will deff point to a bad wiring to the radio if it doesn't.

How do you have it wired? are you using a plug adapter for the radio ?

Yeah I used a adapter for it. If I pull the fuse for it would that give me the same result? Just thinking a fuse is easier than the radio. If not I'll pull the radio out tomorrow than erase the codes and see.

Im not sure you can try but also look for any wires that might be grounding each other out or bare wires from the radio harness. Even though your using the harness adapter you still have to match the colors and solder or use butt connectors so check each wire.

Yeah I'll just pop out the radio. Even though I soldered the wires and heat shrinked them I will second guess myself till I check.lol..
