Default B16 swap on a 1998 Civic Ex EK coupe

I’ve done some looking around (still doing so) but I want a clear answer (I know there’s going to be a lot of you “here we go again with these stupid questions” or “this guys is a noob”) etc etc guys but here we go. I have a D16a engine in my coupe the car is lacking power so I do not want to spent money on rebuilding the engine. So I’ve been looking at some bseries jdm engines and I want to know how I can keep power steering and A/c in my car? As well as everything I need for the swap. I saw innovative and some other brands have kits for the build with axels headers brackets and etc I’m curious to know if anyone has used them for the build I have about $5,500 so I know that’s more than enough for this swap. Thanks to anyone that takes the time to reply in advance!!!

Not that you deserve this rookie... because you shouldn't have asked... and a Google search will give you the answers that you seek 1000 times over... but I am in a great mood since it is my Birthday, so I will spoon-feed you just this once.

With a $5500.00 budget, forget the B16A and go with the B18C (GSR) swap. A/C bracket needed comes from either a '94-97 Del Sol VTEC or a '97-01 CR-V. The P/S pump will be a bit more tricky... use the brackets that come with the GSR swap (and if it comes with a pump, you have a 50% chance it fits your Civic upper P/S hose). Integra pumps are what you will be looking for, and '94-96 pumps have one style fitting and '97-01 pumps have the other. One has a larger inlet centered between the two bolt holes and the other has a smaller inlet that is offset from the center line between the two bolt holes. I "believe" your OE Civic high pressure line has the smaller inlet/offset style.

You will need to modify your original Civic EX engine harness... lengthen/shorten wires as needed and change those that are different. If you get a '96+ swap, all plug styles should be the same.

Your upper trans mount/bracket works as well as the rear mount, driver's side mount and engine tab... which will connect to the '99-00 Civic Si engine bracket (replacing the 3-bolt style GSR bracket found on the driver's side of the engine). You can buy a mount kit as suggested above if you wish, and this will certainly make the engine more stable in the bay. A '94-01 Integra or '99-00 Civic Si transmission torque mount, axles and shift linkage as well as a '99-00 Civic Si rear "T" bracket and radiator is needed. A GSR throttle wire and Hondata s300/P28 with an OBD-2A->OBD-1 ECU adapter will get you started. Adding a header, cat, exhaust system and some type of intake tube/filter should round out your basics... and a dyno tune will make it all work together.

Now I expect you to become a productive member of this board from here on out...
Welcome.

He's got a '98. Doesn't he need an OBD2A to OBD1 harness adapter? OBD2B was in the '99 and '00 Civics and '00-'01 Integras.

Yes, I made a typo. I will correct it in my original post. Thanks for the proof-read.

You use the engine harness that came with your car... and if you don't have it, GET ONE just like the one that should have come in your car. Then, modify it to fit the new engine... lengthening or shortening wiring and changing plug types as necessary. You didn't feel it was necessary to provide ANY information about your chassis or the year/model "B" series swap, so I cannot be more specific.

If you have additional questions, I suggest you create your own thread instead of thread-jacking this one from the OP.
