I just bought this 5 speed 1998 civic hatchback b16a2 swapped.
the post read:
"skunk 2 intake and throttle body, skunk 2 injectors and fuel rail, no name headers. skunk 2 full exhaust, cold air intake, skunk 2 strut brace, aftermarket radiator, eibach lowering springs, all around rear sub frame brace with lower control arms, slotted rotors, si cluster, no A/C and speedometer doesn't work probably speed sensor."
Here's what i've noticed so far
its true the ac compressor is missing but has the bracket and the speedometer worked while i was on the freeway for a minute but likes to stay at 20 and spaz a little. but the gas gauge also is acting funny, i bought the car with half a tank of gas it looked like and now its at full. could the cluster have been wired bad?
The ac blows just not cold obviously so i think that's just a simple compressor install
When i went to start it this morning from it sitting all night, I counted to 6-8 Mississippi before it started, the same thing after work. i took it across the street and pulled into my bay for an oil change at my dealership and did my oil change and a flat repair and when i started it again it struggled to start. so i turned it off to see if it would happen again and it started right up. but died within 3 seconds in neutral with no foot on the gas.i haven't checked spark plugs yet but the wires look semi new and i don't want this issue to continue, i want it running consistently before i do anything to it so id like to fix this
As well as the a/c as its hot in Arizona
and my speedometer.
does anyone have any tips.
(do you think a compressor will fit with the headers?)
(is the si cluster the problem or could it just be the speed sensor and i'm just crazy about the gas gauge)
(also what could be causing it to start weak, it just cranks for less than ten seconds before starting sometimes and sometimes it fires right up. And one time didn't seem to wanna stay running until i gave it gas, like its dying. But when its running its great.)
Yea if you compressor is missing then you whole system has moisture in it. So I would suggest full system flush before adding compressor pulling vacuum and then adding oil and freon. That is of course if the rest of the system is still intact and electrically functional.
