Default Rotation of J35A Engine....More

Hi all,
New guy here. I am trying to get comprehensive info on the Honda J35A V6 engine. First of all, looking at the crankshaft pulley, does it turn CW or CCW? I own a 2008 Saturn Vue and I think this motor is used in that car, right? The J35A seems to have been used in a variety of cars and the horsepower changes from 210hp up to 310hp. Which vehicles used the 310hp engine?

I would like to use this engine in a traditional North/South configuration but from what I see it always is used in a sidewinder configuration. Does anyone have info of replacing the transmission so the car can be built as a traditional RWD vehicle?

Is there a forum that really digs into this motor? I haven't been able to find out much about it.

Thanks for any and all information!
Randy

Pro-tip. The engine in a transverse mounted car typically rotates in the same direction as the axles. So if the crank pulley is on the right side (most common), it typically rotates clockwise. CCW engines typically have the front of the engine on the left side of the car. Not a hard and fast rule, but pretty good rule of thumb.

J35's are longitudinally mounted in a lot of factory Honda race cars. They make gigantic power, reliably enough to run multiple endurance races, on stock blocks/heads/and even throttle bodies. They run the original block castings and the current direct injection heads with the mono-exhaust ports too. The mono port heads are awesome for turbo engines since you can just about bolt the turbo supercore straight to the head. Super cool builds. Here are some examples - note that pictures of the engines are hard to find because it's in the manufacturer's best interest to keep them under wraps as much as possible:

This one was actually a 2.8L - 2012 to about 2016:

The current engine is a 3.5L twin turbo.

The AWD TLX had a really amazong installation - it was basically a front-mid engine car with the engine up under the windshield, completely to the rear of the front axle line.

Baja Ridgeline also runs the exact same engine as the Acura/Penske sports cars:

Thanks for all the great info Adam. I just discovered the J35A and it looks like a likely candidate for a swap into a FLBY (flimsy little British car). So am I to understand that the J35A rotates CW or CCW when looking at the crankshaft pulley? Which is the best engine model to buy (J35A-3,-4,-5,-6,-7,-8 the alphabet series Z,Y,)?

Which is the better 5 or 6spd manual trans to use? I have hear of using:
Nissan Z34 370Z 6 speed manual transmission
-BMW E36/46 ZF 5 speed manual transmission
-BMW E36/46 Getrag 6 speed manual transmission
-Audi 01e manual transmission
-Honda S2000 6 speed manual transmission

Thanks for all the help.
