94 ej1 - swapped D15b2 - Doesn't start
I have a 94 ej1 that I put a D15b2 and it's receiving spark and fuel, and it cranks but just doesn't start, used starter fluid and still wouldn't crank. I checked all my fuses and they are good, none are blown. Checked my grounds they are good and checked all my connection and everything is connected right and it somehow caught on fire under the intake manifold but was put out. But there was no reason to catch one fire. Any help would helpful.

Are you suggesting more information is needed before anyone is to offer suggestions?
But why aren't you and K20 concerned. The OP also said this:
The OP may not have enough experience to judge the importance of a relevant observation, though he/she did find it important enough to mention.
I'm suggesting that an engine fire worth mentioning is a huge red flag that should not be ignored. OP should consider that the fire is either the cause of the problem or is related to the underlying cause of the problem.

I know you are trying to help like the rest of us here, so don't take what I've said in the bad way. Tech threads are tricky to navigate.
How can you be sure? For example, does OP think the engine gets fuel and spark because the fuel pump primes and one spark plug shows weak orange spark?
Why? He only mentions an engine fire and nothing else.
I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he had checked and undertook, if any, repairs.
my advice to check timing will do no harm and is free.
Fire is the number 1 priority if a engine catches on fire. I also thought the op had already addressed that issue first and got it figure out.
first and foremost yes address the fire issue first OP if you don’t know what started, Check for a leaky injectors/ bad injector grommets etc, At this point don’t start the car but switch the key to number 2 NOT ON, also have a fire extinguisher on hand and ready with someone outside the car to be ready to extinguish. Have someone see if fuel squirts out anywhere near the area you had the fire.
