Prelude SH BC Racing Coilover selection Standard vs. Extreme Low
Hey Guys!
I have not found much evidence that this has been touched on, so I figure I'd make a post about it. I recently made a post about Ground Control and Koni yellows. I installed the front on my SH and at stock height for an SH there was enough travel, (barely) with cut bump stops, still not entirely sure why I had no little travel to work with. I believe the main issue is the lower control arms are different, the radius rods are different and the stock spring perch is 20mm lower on the Type SH, the shock body looks to be the same length but I was quite concerned about bottoming out on that setup. The spring rate up front is 440 test fitted and the rear was 375 or 380 which were never installed (part numbers are all correct).
Anyhow, I do want to lower the whole car a bit more as it is a show car that's pretty much driven extensively to cars and coffee, street car takeover and the windy backgrounds 2-3 times per summer, I'm looking for a balance of great handling while going lower. I believe I'm going to bite the bullet and purchase a set of BC Racing Coilovers, potentially with custom spring rates of 8k (448 lbs) up front and 6k (336 lbs) in the rear. I reached out to their tech team, who seemed to know nothing about the car really and asked if I should get the standard kit or an SH or extreme low if I want to drop the car about an inch. The stock height of a prelude SH from the ground to the top of the fender is about 25.5 inches up front and 25.75 in the rear. Should I go with the extreme low or just opt for the normal version, I'm looking to retain at minimum one inch of shock travel at 24.5 inches all around.
Feel free to hit me up if you're interested in purchasing the brand new set of GC coilovers and koni's yellows. They'll fit a base model very well and a SH at stock height, considered to be one of the very best suspension upgrades for our cars.
