I went to replace the passenger side headlight bulb and could not get the retainer clip around the screw which holds the bulb in place. I then took out the screw (big mistake) which eventually slipped into the entire headlight assembly. Despite speaking with the dealer and Honda, neither coukd offer the part #/where to buy etc. Does anyone know the part # or where I might find one (besides a junkyard)? Taking the driver's side out (difficult) to try to drive around to find it seems probably futile. Thank you!!

I would just remove the front bumper its not very difficult and pull off the head light.

If the head light is after market the spring is usually more difficult to clip on, I had to use a pair of small pliers and bend it on.

 

Thank you for such a quick response. I thought about taking the bumper off but it might be more than I ought to tackle myself. I saw clips being sold, but only need the darn screw and Honda rep knew nothing about it, sadly. I saw the diagram she referred to, and it doesn't even show the clip and screw, ugh. Any other suggestions, my auto skills are a bit limited. Thank you again however!!!!

 

Owe you need the screw got you. You cant use one from a parts store? Just find a donor at the junk yard or join a Facebook Honda parts page and there's always civic being parted out.

 

Ohhhh, FB Honda parts page?? I did not know there was one. Yes, only the screw and I KNEW it was not good to take it out but had gotten it back in and somehow it popped out. Any suggestions on a specific group ?? Thanks wunfstgsr!!!!!

 

Depends on your location but search JDM Honda parts or Civic part group, in my area im in a group called SD JDM stuff FS/FT tons and tons of good cheap stuff come across! I even purchased the 2000 civic hatchback I still drive today and slowly restoring in the link below, and I picked it up for $1,200! I recently threw away a set of old head lights I would of gave you the screw if it was earlier lol
