The harmonic balancer came off and sheared half of the Woodruff key.... The rest is stuck in the timing belt drive sprocket pulley. That key wont budge. Should I drill it out? Pullers have failed so far. Old threads here have suggested heating the sprocket gear slightly but not the cam shaft. Others mentioned cutting the sprocket gear off of the shaft. I would like to do that possibly but I have no idea what tool I should use to safely hack that hunk-a-steel off. Any ideas? Below is the photo I INVITE ALL EXPERIENCED IDEAS on how to get it off without further damage to camshaft. Thanks!
Sprocket pulley has no clearance for pullers to grab, so holes were drilled but that puller failed. Now what? How can I hack it off since the broken Woodruff key is stuck?
Here's the replacement gear. How does one cut this hunk-a-steel off as suggested in old postings?
I'd like to hear from machinists and mechanics with experience. Please and thank you!
