oil pump, balancer shaft and timing, need help!
ok so think i might have really messed up. i had to replace my oil pump on my 96 accord 2.2L VTEC (F22B1) and when i took it all apart i didnt put the screw driver into the motor to hold the balancer shaft and when i got the oil pump back on the balancer shaft wouldnt rotate. after i did some research i then realized i needed to insert a screw driver into the motor to hold it in place. so now im going to go take the oil pump and oil pan back off right now and hope that someone has responded to this to help me get the balancer shaft back to where it needs to be cause i cant find anything on how to do it. i need help bad!
Sticking a screwdriver in the hole through the shaft is only meant to hold the balancer shaft inline with the engines TDC. If the balance shaft is not rotating there is something else going on. Check to make sure the shaft is turning before you install the oil pump and gears.
Just out of curiosity, what was the reason for replacing your oil pump?

It was spi ning before I put the oil pump on and then I installed the oil pump and will only spin when I have the socket on the end of it to try and tighten or loosen it. I had to replace the oil pump because after I replaced the cylinder head and put everything back together a 10mm socket some how got left between the bottom timing belt cover and when I started the car the socket broke a sprocket behind the harmonic balancer and bend a hole that holds the wires into the oil pump.
