I have a 2013 Civic. Still runs like a dream, and I wanna keep it that way. It has 90K+ miles. I commute 60 miles a day M-F. I drive mellow, not rough.

My "Change Oil" reminder comes up every 8500+ miles. Since I changed oil every 3000 miles in previous cars, I've always felt funny about changing my oil in my 2013 Civic every almost 9000 miles, as stated above.

Is this normal? Can you relate? Is changing my oil every 8500+ miles healthy for my Civic? Yea, the car tell me to wait till then, so it should be ok, but still, how does your experience compare??

I agree that sounds like a lot of miles. I do my oil at 6000 kms which is 3728 miles. The whole reason Honda went to the maintenance minder was to be able to advertise a lower cost of ownership to try to sell more cars.

These days nobody checks their oil, so many will be completely out of it by 9000 miles. If people want to follow the maintenance minder indicator I tell them they need to check oil often and top up if low.

The interval in Canada went from 6000 kms to 8000 kms in 2001 for the civics and 2003 for accords. I still recommend 6000 kms on any v6 and the average is 8000 kms for maintenance minder 4 cylinders.
