Default Oil Questions.

I have a 92 Honda Accord. In between oil changes i need to put about 2 or maybe even 3 quarts of 5W-30 full synthetic oil into my car. i was wondering if i should put 5W-30 conventional or change to 10W-30 oil full synthetic or also 10W-30 conventional? i have a F22A1 16 valve engine. i dont have variable valve timing. timing.

You need to check for leaks first. If it's not leaking any then it's burning it. Changing oil weights/types is not going to remedy that amount of oil burning. Switching from a 5w30 to a 10w30 isn't going to do anything anyway as it's only a very minimal change to the cold weight.

Do you have blue smoke from your exhaust? If so, your rings are likely shot and the engine is due for a rebuild.

Do you have peanut butter in your coolant?

He is asking if you have coolant in your engine oil or oil in your coolant, it will look like a milkshake. To be completely honest with you, I have never personally heard anyone call it peanut butter before. Although it can look similar I guess.

You need to find out where the oil is going and focus on fixing that.

Just an FYI, if you want to run a thicker oil, it's the second number you want to look at raising..... From Xw30 to Xw40 The first number is the winter/cold weight and the second number is the operating temperature weight of the oil. If you live in a cold climate you really don't want to go much higher on the first number. if you live in a warm climate that doesn't go below 0, you could go with a straight weight SAE30 or SAE40 oil much better for your engine IMO.

Some call it milk shake, others call it pudding, and some call it peanut butter. I had a friend with a 2.2L camry who had filled the radiator with water. Short story later, it froze burst the water jackets in the head and when I pulled off the valve cover, the entire contents of the head were filled with peanut butter like consistancy.
