Too much oil
Hi,
I have a Honda Civic 1996 DX with 162,000 miles. This car has been good for years but now I am having some minor problems. I need help.
This car does not tell me how much oil is in the engine sometimes. After changing the dirty oil I put in 3.5 quartz. I let the car sit for a while and check how much oil is inside. The level stays at the first notch as if there is almost no oil inside. Thinking that there is not enough oil in the engine I add more. I have now put too much oil in the engine. After driving it around the level is reading over the maximum amount.
How bad is this? What should I do now?

Re: Too much oil
An excessive amount of oil can blow seals(think of it as putting too much water in a balloon), i'd just drain it all out, measure and refill to be safe, if you're super **** and don't want to re-use it or measure just purchase more oil. Either way, drain and refill.
