Icon5 Anyone had a Re-manufactured Engine put into your Honda, what was your experience ?

We recently bought a 2006 Honda Pilot with 71,000 miles... Nothing on the Car Fax about having a Remanufactred Engine from LKQ put in it at 62,000 miles 2 yrs ago.... Learned this by contacting last Honda shop in seeking to learn if the Timing Belt had been changed- answer NO.. but had a REMAN ENGINE put in ... can anyone tell me if these Engines get a New Timing belt , or just use what "looks good" when they "reman" them?

Any thoughts or experiences with LKQ REMAN Engines , how long they may last... Very dismayed to learn this ... but maybe I am worrying too much.. (I am the wife on here asking this question, by the way)... appreciate any replies, Thank you.

As far as I know LKQ is a junk yard (albeit a nation wide one) that sells used engines. Ive never heard of them having a rebuilding facility.

Id ask to see paper work/receipts indicating that the engine was remanufactured and is not used.

If it is used,Id be wary.

If it truly was reman, typically all new parts are used with the exception of the block and heads. A quality reman engine should easily last 150K-200K miles....

A re-manufactured engine would mostly come from the dealer, installed by the dealer. What you got was used engine that came out of another car at the scrap yard. Go ahead and replace the timing belt and don't rely on a visual inspection or someone over the phone saying that it was done x years ago.

You mentioned paperwork and receipts.. The Service manager from the Honda dealership made a copy of the Invoice taking out previous owners name address...it has the whole breakdown and cost of Reman Engine on it...($3525.00)...
I specifically asked for the date listed on the Car Fax when it was serviced at that particular Honda Dealership showing proof I was the new owner ... So wouldnt this breakdown of the Invoice be proof it was indeed a Remanufactured Engine...not a used one from the junk yard. Would a Honda Dealership seriously lie about this ?

If it says remanufactured engine, and not "used" engine,Id be inclined to believe it was remanufactured.

Ive just never heard of an LKQ reman. Not saying they dont exist,I am just unaware of them....

This is what it says on the Honda Dealership Invoice :

"A C/S that the Vehicle had shut off while driving, did make a Noise and every light on the dashboard flashed beforehand ...Misc replace the engine with remanufactured engine from LKQ ....329966 CA "

The line that says 329966 CA has a price of $2,764.01 ???
other things were replaced like Thermostat assembly, then another line says :
1 REMAN ENGINE ....and price is $3,525.00

Down below it says "0 replaced the Engine assembly with Remanufactured Engine Assembly from LKQ. Replaced the A/C Compressor assembly for A/C Concern. Test drove all OK at this time".

What gets me is ... All that is listed on the Car Fax for this date (9-2017 at 62,930 miles) is :

"Vehicle Serviced -Maintenance Inspection Completed - Right air bag assembly replaced" ...total cost for all that was done $7,738.85

I found this thread which talks about WHO remanufactures LKQ Engines (dated 2017)...
answer : "ALT" https://atkvege.com/

Thread here : https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forum...res_the_engine

Doesn't make me feel any better / have much confidence in this REMAN -reading this response " ATK does indeed do the work- LKQ bought them a few years ago. In my personal experience they are complete and total JUNK that I avoid like a drug addicted, disease ridden prostitute with the plague! I have several pictures or their handy work, as well as more than one tale (from different installers) to back my own personal experiences. That being said- they do get it right from time to time."

Well all signs point to it being a genuine reman.
Sorry I cant speak as to their reliability, never used them.
Good luck.
