Default D15b with d15y3 ecu

Hey guys i hope everyone is doing great. I just bought a 2005 honda civic which originally came with d15y3. The previous owner replaced the engine with a Jdm d15b ( it looks exactly the same as d15y3 but has vtec in it). When i asked him about the ecu, he said it has original d15y3 ecu. Now i am concerned because d15y3 is a non vtec while this engine is a vtec one ( single vtec as it has only one vtec solenoid). The car runs completely fine and has no check engine light or any other problem. Can anyone tell me which ecu's came with both d15b and d15y3? secondly what are the specifications of this engine? I looked up on different sites but didn't find any information regarding this model's d15b. Another note is that while d15b vtec from 6th gen civic revs upto 7200 rpm, mine only goes upto 6500 and cuts off.
