Hello, Im just after doing a rear disc conversion on my 1998 ej6 coupe LS. I got the trailing arms, hoses, cables and everything needed from 2000 EM1 civic. I also installed new pads when I did the swap. I then bled the brakes and all seemed fine while car was turned off (pedal felt as it should with the brakes engaging) I then turned on the ignition and started the car and the brakes felt very spongy and the pedal goes all the way to the floor and breaking power is poor. What is the cause of this could anyone help me? All help greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

 

There's still air in the hydraulic system. Bench bleed the master cylinder, and then all 4 wheels in the correct wheel order.

 

Ok thanks very much for your help, could you confirm on which order to bleed the brakes as I’ve seen a couple of different people say different orders.

 

Start from furthest caliper from the master cylinder and work your way to the closest caliper

Pass rear
Driver rear
Pass front
driver front

 

Service manual shows a different sequence:

 

That's really strange.

Maybe it has something to do with the brake proportioning valve

 

Bleed your master cylinder, run a vinyl hose from your front driver caliper bleeder valve with a hose clamp to your master cylinder reservoir. Pump the brakes and the air will bleed out the master.
