New owner of ‘07 Accord LX with multiple issues
About 3 weeks ago I acquired the accord with 2.4L engine, 5 speed automatic. Earlier this week the battery was dead and would not take a charge on a cold morning. I replaced the battery and all was well. Friday night I headed out on a long drive and about 2 hrs into the trip the battery light came on. Needless to say that soon my battery was dead and I was stranded. I had someone pick me up and we took the battery to be tested and charged. It wouldn’t take a charge so it was replaced. I also had to replace the alternator with a cheap autozone one.
I contacted the previous owner and he stated that the last two years he has had to replace the battery and alternator 4x. He believes something else is causing the problems, but he isn’t sure. I’d like to make sure that something else isn’t causing this problem. I have read that I should go ahead and replace the ELD and buy a Honda alternator.
Also when the battery died the heat stopped working. The lights work on the heat and air control but the fan doesn’t work. It will switch the air from defrost to vents but no fans work and the temp is just outside air temp. I have read that it could be motor fan going bad or it could be the blower power transistor. I’m several hours from my house and don’t have my multimeter to test it.
I should also mention that the radio works intermittently but this isn’t a big deal. I have read about this being a common problem. This is actually my least concern at the moment. I can always pull it and have it repaired or replaced.
The last problem I have is that the drivers window isn’t controlled by the electric up/down control anymore and tends to slip downward. The previous owner had the window kept up using tape. You can hear the motor running in the door but it’s as though it isn’t connected. The electric door lock feature on the drivers door also doesn’t work.
I’d like to tackle these problems stepwise. I’d like to fix the heat/air, figure out the problem with it going through multiple batteries/alternators, fix the drivers window/power doorlock, and lastly the radio.
Does anyone have any advice?
