Default Looking about buying '12-'13 Civic SI questions?

I'm starting to look at buying a manual Civic SI for my son and wanted to see if there are issues I need to look for. Most of the ones I've seen so far in our budget have been in the 100k miles range. Do I need to look for things like timing belt changes or spark plug changes in that mileage range? Any know issues that go on with the SI in that mileage and year range?

That engine has a timing chain, so you certainly don't have to worry about replacing it at 100K miles. Spark plugs should be serviced about that time, but that is not a big expense. Si's typically aren't driven easy, so check to make sure the transmission shifts smoothly... especially into 2nd through 5th at higher rpm (above 6K). 3rd and 4th gear grinds are very common in 7G-9G ('02-15) Si's.

Thanks for the info. I'm just now starting to learn about the Civics so this is good info. What is the RPM range on the Civic SI? I can't imagine shifting at 6k, I grew up around classic chevrolet cars so even if I was hammering on my car I would usually shift way before 6k.

Is there a post or site that would get me service intervals? I'm assuming the transmission fluid needs to have been changed at some put before 100k and other things like the spark plugs. Again, just starting to learn and research about the Civic SI so bare with me on the newbie questions.
