My neighbor bought a Recaro seat (for his 99 Civic DX) which I believe comes with a heater and adjustment motor, I want to wire it into the fusebox once he gets me the current ratings for the seat and a wiring diagram if available. I watched a *youtube video where the guy uses a really cool thing I never saw before, a fuse tap pigtail, to wire a stereo into a fusebox. Does anyone have any comments on whether this is a good approach? I've never used one before and want to be very careful when tampering with the fusebox. Also does anyone know offhand whether the unused fuse spots in the fusebox can be used for this, with any size fuse needed to power the seat up to a maximum of 20A, even if I have to use two different current sources, to handle the motor and heater current draws? I saw that the largest fuses in the box are 20A and was thinking it might be smart not to exceed that. Any comments would be appreciated.
Do you have any idea what the Amperage rating of C929 is ? I haven't been able to find that.
The ignition switch (source of IG2) is protected by 40A hood fuse 42. How many amps do the seat motor and heater pull? What amp fuse protected these two seat circuits in the stock donor car?
My neighbor bought it online, he didn't get a spec with it and hasn't gotten back to me with the current demands of the seat, he hasn't been able to find a model number anywhere, so he's still researching it. Thanks again for the information about the fuses, it is very useful.
Big Thanks muellersfan, I'll use C926 and add an inline fuse. Awesome post, thank you very much.
To keep it low-key/stock looking, grab some of these connectors from the local junkyard. It's from a '90-97 Honda Accord driver's door, at the wire harness behind the door panel.
depending on which one you get, if it has 2 wires coming out of the brown connector, safely cap off the unused one. I've seen some with just one black wire instead of the black and white/red stripe. There are some that has 2 black wires as well. Same applies...cap off the one you're not using.
