So i basically bought an em1 with a mest up rear subframe. Should i replace it or should just get another car its tax season soon and not sure if i should cut my losses Looks like they wielded a lca to replace that part of the subframe
Ive seen a member replace his rear subframe in the builds section, however I can clearly see a bunch of foam and filler above the passengers side rear lower control arm
It depends how the rest of the shell looks. If its a really clean intact car it would be worth my time to save it.
Its by no means a novice job, if you are an experienced wrencher its going to be about the damage to the undercarriage that supports the subframe

Should i just take it to a body shop then?
The rest of the car looks great you cant even tell untll you look at it closely
I'm not even sure if a brace would fit, but usually you can get a brace like this for $40
If you could get the lower control arm bolts to fit through the brace I would just have a muffler shop weld the brace to the shitty half *** subframe you have on there as a "decent enough" fix
Most of those braces are machined aluminum and you can't weld aluminum to steel.
I'd cut my losses and look for a shell to swap over the good parts or just get a different car.
Ya but how much would a new oem rear sub frame cost to repalce. Thats my real question. People are already trying to buy the car off me since day one so if it comes to that im ok and the car is technically a clean title according to carfaxs and the dmv
That definitely looks like a tear out repair, not collision damage.
They are still available. EM1 subframes are gone, EJ6/8 are located at a vintage parts warehouse in Wisconsin. The only difference between the two in the welded nuts for sway bar attachment on the EM1 subframe, which is something you will override when installing an ASR brace anyway. I did mine last year. Part is about $200 new, I spent ~$400 on labor. I did strip the interior and drop the exhaust and tank, and have the car towed to and from the shop... so between that and the amount of damage done your mileage may vary. Work was done at a local hot rod shop/Honda Acura mechanic (convenient coincidence!). The job is not hard but it’s tedious due to drilling of all of the spot welds.
Another option is a used CTR subframe. Bonus would be that you do not need to run an ASR brace for that.

You or anyone know the part number for ej6/8 subframe????
65750-S01-A00ZZ - I looked it up on the fiche, it should be ~$100 from one of the online stores but I'm sure they'll bang you pretty good on the shipping

They are located at Vintage Parts, Inc. (https://www.vpartsinc.com/), which is sort an official parts center, but you may still have to go through a Honda parts counter to purchase. I'm not sure how it works for the private citizen, lol.
