Clutch master and slave hydraulics keep failing
Dear Experts,
I have a
1996 Honda Accord
2.2 liter VTEC
5 speed standard
262K miles
Original clutch
Over the years, the
Clutch master and slave hydraulic cylinders
keep failing.
They have failed multiple times since 2011.
And previous to that, had been replaced at least once.
Last December 2018, the hydraulics failed again.
It was quite the drama, as there was at least
one faulty part in the fix. Immediately
after driving away, I noticed the same issue.
So returned the car to be fixed again.
I spent most of December walking.
The crazy thing is, after about one year,
there is the same failure of the
hydraulics. Sigh!
I'm told that the master/slave cylinders
were manufactured by both Wagner and Luk.
Neither manufacturer's parts lasted very long.
Currently, the car has Luk cylinders
One time, another thing that failed was a hose.
It was difficult to find that part.
One idea that the service manager mentioned:
since the clutch is so old, the parts inside
the clutch are seizing (?), or getting harder to
move around. And that the slave cylinder is
working harder to move them and wearing out
prematurely. But, I would not feel any more
pressure on the clutch pedal.
Does this make any sense?
Could bad clutch parts be so worn,
that the master and/or slave cylinders
would wear out prematurely?
Thanks a lot!
PS: I'm soooo tired of the drama
