I took the hood off to detail the engine bay, but now it won't latch all the way down, just til the first click. If i hold the lever and close it, it goes down further but still pops back up to the first click. Any tips?

 

adjust the hood latch mechanism (10mm bolts)

 

Also check the adjustment of the rubber bumpers that contact the front of the closed hood. The bumpers can be adjusted up or down by turning them like a screw.

 

Try lubing the latch. Spray style silicone or teflon work good.

Check that the lever at the bottom of the latch that the cable pulls is going all the way back to the closed position after pulling the handle inside the car.
