Hey ladies and germs, here be my 1989 CRX Si in the "cursed" Barbados Y49 Yellow coloring. I've named her Kursed as I don't believe in superstitions. This is my lovely build thread which I will update from time to time with what I'm currently working on and such. First official deep clean of the CERX (Always called em CERX's I know the younger crowd likes to refer to them as Rex's). I did a deep clean, clay bar and wax even though the paint is in dire need of a major touch up. Just a side shot number 1 showing off those lovely Civic Si' rims I acquired. Side shot number two.
First DIY mod was getting a Intake tube that fit. Good buddy gave me a OEM CRX intake tube but it would have had metal contacting the batter. Finally found a EBAY Cold Air intake that was modertaly priced and fit just fine. I do plan on going to a 51R battery so the terminals will be facing on the other side. For those that are curious she does currently have a B18B1 w/211k-ish miles on the motor. It is rebuilt. I plan on building it for VTEC and trying to sit around 200-225 horsepower.
Here is my First big Winter Project Portion. I had found a set of 4th gen Prelude seats and made a deal to swap my 90-91 CRX seats for them. The guy, Mat, even offered to do all the seat pan swapping, welding if needed and to drive them all the way up to help install them. He also through in a 5th gen Civic Center Arm rest.
I was able to remove the seats no problem. Carefully sprayed a little bit of PB Blaster on the 8 seat bolts and let it soak in over night. All four came up w/out any issue.
Once I had the seats out I noticed how gross my carpet actually looked so I cleaned up a little. I eventually plan to pull the carpet out and give it a proper pressure wash.
Here is the final picture with the Prelude seats installed. They are so dang comfy, plus that arm rest is amaze *****!
My next mission, also where I currently am as of today was getting off the 90-91 CRX bumper on my 89 and replacing it with a 88-89 bumper. My buddy Mat, who brought the seats, also traded me a mint condition 88 bumper for my 90-91. Here is the pic of me removing said Grey 90-91 bumper. My next pic will be w/the 88 Bumper put on and hopefully looking delicious, even though it wasn't the "correct" color.
Thanks man, looking to do a rattle can on the front right fender and passenger door so they'll at least match till I can afford a good bare bones up paint job.
Thanks man really appreciate it. Bought the CRX w/the B18b1 already in her. I either plan on pulling it out and beefing up this motor or maybe due to the cost of the motor parts I wanna put in it to upgrade just go with a GSR motor. Who knows....I know I won't until the motor is the last thing I wanna do.
