I'll take a wild guess and say.........I don't know..........$5 ?!?!

JFWY, look in the title

Good idea on the design. Plain, functional, simple, and to the point.

When that clear hose heats up and is under vacume it will pinch itself shut.(if your running it inline with your pvc)
Good diy though What was the can itself before you butchered it?

not trying to be a dick but you could have put the fittings where they would keep out more vapors.

and FYI , I ran the same exact design on my car for a bit , it melted after a 20 min session at CMP.

oh and those hoses suck , they will collapse when warm.

I would have to agree. I used the same clear hose and they eventually collapsed. Go buy some 3/8" (ID) black rubber fuel hose.

Where?
opposite each other , those are very close.

the imput on the can should be low , and the output of the can should be opposite and up as high as possible.

its logic , gravity works wonders.

I don't know if I agree with having the input low. Why you ask? Remember that the can will fill up with oil. If the inlet/input is to low, it could be "covered up" as the oil level rises. This would cause the inlet/input tube (the tube that connect the PCV valve to the catch can inlet/input) to fill up with oil. This would also not allow the blow-by vapors to be pulled out of the crankcase properly. Agree or disagree?

The catch can should contain some type of internal baffling to help seperate the oil droplets from the blow-by vapors.

by low I meant simply lower than the output side , say maybe two inches

I left plenty of room for mine to fill up and not affect the fittings.

haha an old tea can

i put the fittings like that because thats the only way i could fit the can in the engine bay. i'll take a pic of it installed later.

Good diy though
Argh, i thought i read something about that before. thanx

Without a filtering element, it doesn't function as a catch can.

Instead it'd just be a useless can in your engine bay.

The baffling helps to seperate the oil droplets from the blow-by vapors (see diagram below). If the oil catch can doesn't have baffling, it will not do a good job of seperating the oil droplets and they will just be fed back into the intake manifold.

it will nearly crimp itself shut in a short period of time.
if its straight you're fine but any bend will deform itself with heat...
