The manual says to measure clearance with a feeler gauge between the shim and the bearing outer race, for the life of me I cant slide the feeler gauge between the shim and outer race, but it does slide between the shim and the transmission case. I assume the measurement will be the same, but wanted to check if anyone else has had this issue. A .20 mm feeler gauge fits but is the largest that will fit, a .15 mm slides like it should, I currently have a 1.4 mm shim so assume I need to step up to a 1.45 mm shim, but will order a 1.5 mm just in case. Before I order I wanted to make sure measuring between the shim and transmission case isn't going to cause issues.
If I slide the .20 mm feeler gauge between the bearing outer race and shim as I'm installing the transmission case before bolting it down the feeler gauge fits just like it does between the case and the shim, but if I slide it out and try to re-insert between the shim and the outer race I can't get it to slide back in.
