Default Battery Choice - Boosted B Series

Not sure if this is the right place but figured why not. So I own an EK with the battery relocated to the trunk. Modified heavily with 400+ hp and I notice that it sometimes seems to require a few turns to start. It has a general Carquest battery in it now, but I am considering upgrading to an Optima. Any recommendations on other options or are the Optimas still the best option?

Tricky question that'll drum up varied answers! Even though there are many to choose, there are really only a couple ACTUAL manufacturers. It's just a matter of battery type that best suits ya. Above all, a good warranty is what you should really look for.

You could have a different issue and its probably not your battery, If all the connections and wiring is done properly the amount of HP plays no role during your crank or post start up calibrations. Check for voltage drop on your logs and see if you have a app drop from the battery.

This can also be a bad starter. Both can be tested at a local auto store.

I have plenty of HP and I run a good old Wal-mart battery that serves me well with a 2-3 YEAR warranty. Cost $45 and I just return it before my warranty ends and get a brand new one each time always keep your receipt!

For acid batteries, they are about the best you can get. Mine was drained overnight by a relay wired incorrectly. Once it got recharged, it was as good as new.
