Default P0325 code Knock sensor. Need advice.

Upon doing my engine gasket and seal kit when I removed the engine and transmission from the bay I damaged the knock sensor so I got a cheap replacement (off ebay) and also I noticed the wires on my crankshaft angle sensor were frayed ...It was still connected but barely. So I soldered the wires together. So after I reinstalled the engine and setting my timing properly by jumping the diag plug under the passenger kick panel and set it to 12 degrees btdc. I took it on a test drive and everything running fine until I get on the highway, I hit 65mph under acceleration and engine light comes on and loud clunking noises coming from what seemed like the left side of the engine or drivers side engine bay.

So I took it to Oreillys and they pulled a code p0325 which is the knock sensor.

Now my question is this, is the code for a faulty knock sensor? or is it just telling me that something is causing knock and therfore tripping the cel and giving p0325 code. I was thinking maybe it was the crankshaft position sensor as I kind of had to redo it by soldering the wires. Could bad connection at the crank pos. sensor cause the knock sensor to trigger? Or do you think the knock sensor being a cheap one from ebay is causing the rough running. Car runs fine under 30mph. Please any help is appreciated. Sorry for the long post but wanted to give context. Thanks.

The code you are getting is from the knock sensor not the CKF sensor. I would focus there. The loud clunking noise might be engine knock. Especially if it occurs under highway acceleration but runs fine under light load. Double check your coolant and oil levels. Is your engine modified? Any changes to the fuel or air systems? What octane gas are you using? Double check your timing. For engine knock, you might try premium gas and then add some octane boost.

Having said all that, Honda ecus are really finicky about knock sensors. You may be getting the code from using an aftermarket sensor. But if your engine is actually knocking (and it sounds like it might be), then you need to sort that out or you will trash the engine.

Thanks for the reply. Everything is bone stock and timing is set perfectly.
So could the knock sensor being faulty actually cause knock? Thanks.

ok i feel kinda like a idiot but relieved somewhat as well. i had o reillys reset the code and i went driving again. ... the horrible noise i found out was due to my driver side wheel well plastic rubbing on the tire. i forgot to fasten it down. however i still have the cel coming on. i have another knock sensor on the way from rockauto.

I guess when i went on the highway the plastic had enough air to push it back to rub the wheel and the cel came on at the same time freaking me out in the process. I'll update when i get new sensor installed. thanks.

You might want to double check your mechanical timing as well as your ignition timing. I know you said it's dead on but I am not sure if you mentioned that you double checked both at any point just to be absolutely sure it's "dead on".

Sometimes it's the little things you are pretty sure of that isn't quite that creates unknown amount of headaches.
