Default Scott's 2017 Civic Si Maintenance thread

Just to start, this is more-so an online documentation of maintenance performed on my 2017 civic with some "modifications" sprinkled in. I don't plan on doing much to this thing, just like the last one, but it would be nice to have everything in one place.

Purchased this car on November 19th, 2019 with right at 35k miles on the clock. I wasn't necessarily looking for a new civic, but a Tacoma. I quickly found out that a Tacoma in my price range was going to be 10+ years old with 100k+ miles. Test drove this white one at a local dealer and loved it. Ended up looking for a different color for a week or two (grey or black) but couldn't find any in as good of shape as the local one so I went and picked it up.

The day I drove it home!

Pictured with its older brother. I ended up selling the FA5 rather quickly.

The day after I purchased the 10th gen, I met up with Tom at the Tail of the Dragon. The 10th gen handles so good with the adaptive dampers, its really a great all around car.

First "modification" came shortly after. I exchanged the halogen headlight bulbs for some Hikari LED's. The only plans I have for the exterior is a front lip, not really sure which one as the CTR lip is a bit wide for the stock Si and the Greddy lip is pretty aggressive for a stock setup and the HFP lip is red and annoying . So I'm not 100% sure what I'll throw on there. As I mentioned, this thread is more of a maintenance thread, so don't expect literally anything apart from oil changes and small parts. I do have a bunch of Spoon stuff that I plan on selling to pickup some little stuff for this thing, but thats about all. I'll update this thread when I can.

Keep HT alive!

I ended up finding some of my Spoon Sports parts from my 8th gen, so I decided to throw those on. Fun fact, Spoon Sports type D cap doesn't fit the 16+ civics so I'll need to order the Type F cap. Ended up throwing on the oil cap and the reservoir cover. Rad cap doesn't fit, durcon **** is too light (I'd assume, I haven't tried it) and I'll throw the magnetic oil plug in the next oil change.

Gotta rep narita! Probably gonna sell the rad cap and ****.

The stock interior, which will most likely remain stock. Maybe a weighted Spoon Sports shift **** at some point.

The plans for this is simple. RSB, tires and springs. I'm fine with the power... its my 7th civic and I'm used to having no power. I'd rather focus on getting it to handle like its on rails and just have fun in the mountains. :bang:

Placed an order with Majestic Honda for a CTR Front Subframe brace back in January. Its been sitting in my garage for a month or two but finally had time to throw it on.

Also threw in the Spoon Duracon. Not sure how I feel about it!

Other than that, nothing has changed. Tires or RSB will be next!

Since the pandemic, I've been working from home, which means lots of short trips for coffee and gas. Knowing about the oil dilution issues, I smelled my oil yesterday and smelled like straight gasoline. Ended up ordering a kit from Blackstone for analysis and 4 quarts of Eneos. Will update when I get the kit back. Placed an order with Matt @ ICB for a new rad cap...its the small thing ok...

Received my oil analysis back from Blackstone, 2.3% oil/gas dilution. Not sure how many miles were on the previous oil, but apparently everything else looked good. Good to know!

Finally got around to finding another roof rack. Picked up some Thule Aerobars. Since having a child, I haven't been able to be on my mountain bike lately, but we're planning on doing a fair amount of hiking/camping/riding as soon as it cools off a bit. The rack should come in handy then!

The shred sled.

Setting sail

Honestly not sure how I feel about the bike tray on top of the basket. Might either offset the basket and put the tray next to it or get a smaller basket or only run one or the other at a time
