I have a 98 Honda civic with a D15B series engine in it with a manual transmission. I am trying to find out what the H14 stamped above the engine code on the block is. Can anyone help?

 

That is HM and has nothing of significance for anyone. Might be a Honda marking for the casting location. Doesn't change anything about the engine.

That is a JDM motor swapped into that civic.

Is it vtec or non vtec?

 

It is for sure a VTEC but not sure if its a 3 stage VTEC.

 

you looked at your vtec solenoid?

If you have 1 solenoid on the back of the head it's vtec, If it has 2 solenoids on the back of the head, then you have the 3 stage (dual vtec) motor.

 

Ill have to look. I honestly dont know very much about honda engines but Im learning new things everyday.

 

Take some more pictures and people here can help identify what you have. That is the first thing when you have a car that someone else swapped to a non-stock engine.

The vtec solenoid(s) are on the back left side of the engine head when you are facing the engine from the front of the car.

 

It just has 1 solenoid. So its just the regular vtec and not th3 stage vtec.
