2002 Honda Accord Aftermarket Radio Whining noise
Hi all,
I recently replaced my 2002 Honda accord stock radio with an after market radio. In order to avoid dealing with wiring issues, I also purchased a audio harness that splits the audio cables into differing ones, which I used to simplify the install. After installing I noticed a very faint whining noise when I accelerated, I immediately looked it up and found out it's most likely a ground wire issue that's being amplified when I accelerate due to my alternator. Here I am, three weeks later out of ideas. I desperately need your help.

- I've tried reconnecting the ground wires.
- Using a twist cap to insure their connection.
- Connecting the wires and bolting them to the chassis for a better ground.
- Even using ferrite beads to try and minimize the high frequency (suggested by my dealer).
It could be the harness you used is incorrect for your application, even if it states it is.
Trace out the wires and verify they are correctly pinned out for your car.
If there is still a whine, verify the 'grounds' are actually grounded.
Ghetto fix, use an alligator jumper wire and temporarily bond the deck to the body and go for a spin.

Hi thanks for your reply!
I went to Walmart and bought another type/brand of wire harnessing kit, this unfortunately did not solve my issue.
Dumb question, but the wiring harness comes with the ground wire. I'm connecting my ground wire from the after market radio to this ground wire on the harness. Should I try bolting the connection of these two wires to the frame?

If you ran you speaker Wires near power move them. This will cause interference. You want power to be as far from your speaker and amp connections. Be sure you have a solid ground. In fact you may want to sand off a painted area of the body then get a machine screw be sure the area is clear above and under the car. Drill into the metal you sanded and screw in the ground. This should insure good tunes!
