Default B18C1 Rebuild for turbo help

I have a 2001 GSR with 110000 miles and it’s burning a good amount of oil (light came on after 1500 mi). I’m planning to add a turbo kit soon and I figured now would be a good time to rebuild the engine. After looking at turbo builds, it seems like people recommend lower compression pistons. Are there any other tweaks to a rebuild kit recommended for a turbo build?

Depends on your power goals. Forged rods and pistons would be a good idea. Then maybe a CSS or sleeved block.

I'd be surprised if the rings are that bad at 110k, are you sure it isn't something else? My old Integra smoked like crazy at near 300k miles but even it wasn't running out of oil in 1500 miles.

Lower compressions pistons are the norm for higher boost levels. This allows for a greater range of tuning without getting too close to the edge.
A turbo will increase the heat in the cylinder and increase the expansion of the pistons and rings. A builder will usually leave a larger gap on the rings to account for this. If you don't run a turbo on the engine, the rings will not expand to the OEM specs and you'll still be burning oil. This will happen with a turbo as well, unless you are in boost a lot. Just an FYI.
First thing I would do is check what is causing you to burn oil, via a leakdown test. You may have a perfectly healthy engine, and worn out valve stem seals. Or your pistons/rings might be toast and you need a full rebuild.
I personally would not change pistons just for a DD turbo "kit". If I was building a race car for track, and I wanted every possible HP out of the engine/turbo combo, I (probably) would.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll look into other causes before rebuilding
