I'm scared to ask but I have a rebuilt engine I did, it runs good and starts right up It's early in it's miles like under 500 miles, it does this strange sound like valves but goes away and doesn't come back untill some other random time, once at high revs like 5 or 6k and did it also

What was your break-in procedure?

 

is an older VTEC engine?

-- bad valve lash adjustment
-- stuck LMAs
-- clogged oil orifice
-- loose nut/bolt
-- angry monkey

 

details on the rebuild would be nice.

 

So to answer questions, currently babying car till 1k miles then oil change, it's Vitara d16, speedfactory long rods, acl race berings, head has a stage 2 cam, I've not set the valve lash yet I'll check that when I get to it.
