Is a slave cylinder boot supposed to have an incision on the side?
I got an oem slave cylinder boot from the dealer and it has the incision and that seems a little weird to me and I'm wondering if that's supposed to be there or if mine is broken.

Good question... maybe so you can "see" the movement of the release arm when one pushes the clutch pedal all of the way in and the slave cylinder acts on it as designed ?

I found the incision helpful for you to make sure the ball rod gets seated properly into the recessed part of the arm properly.
Sometimes the rod gets pushed out a lot naturally when it's removed and it doesn't always seat right when you put it back on. That slit gives you access to fiddle with it when putting it back together on the transmission. Also it gives you access to add grease without having to take it all apart.
