I've swapped my D16Y7 manifold to a D16Y8 specifically so i can run a 2 wire iacv for an obd1 conversion. My idle is at 3k and hitting my 2 step rev limiter. I replaced the intake gasket and the tb gasket. I'm running a d16Y8 tb (mt 96-98) as well as a Y8 tb gasket and a y7 intake gasket. All new gaskets. I've removed every vacuum line individually and put my finger over the port with no change in idle. If I suffocate the engine with my hand the idle barely changes. I've tried using a propane torch to find a vacuum leak to no avail. I've replaced the iacv twice now. I have not adjusted the tb idle screw however there's no way it would idle that high with the tb idle screw not adjusted, especially if I'm suffocating it.
What year is your car? 1999-2000 have air injection for cold starts. I have circled it for you to reference. If you sourced the wrong year then you have to plug it. I have also circled an often overlooked vacuum port. Check these places for your leaks. Vacuum port Air injection ports
So I was able to find the leak. I don't know how I didn't find it before but I spray carb cleaner on the mating surface and there it is. It's the intake manifold gasket. It's a metal felpro one. Everything was tightened. What's the ideal gasket to use other than like a hondata gasket? Or show I just slap some rtv on the gasket and call it a day?
No, the paper gasket should be used. As you begin to torque down the nuts the manifold will seal better and the gasket will kind of form around the edges of the manifold.
