Default Air Intake Broken, options?

Is it worth replacing the bottom plastic air filter holder that's over the throttle body? The 6 (I think) bolts on top are all broken. It's still held in with the middle bolt.

Or is it worth getting rid of all the plastic bullshit in this car and just getting a short air intake kit? Not looking for performance, just cost effectiveness and I hate all that plastic. Any downsides to this?

Is it okay to leave stock intake as broken as it is?

No because you don't want non filtered air getting into the manifold. I'd just take the parts you need off another car at the pull it yourself junkyard. If you want it to seem like there's an aftermarket intake on it just leave off the big silencer box resonator. If you don't like how loud it is you can put it back on.
