Default Windshield defrosters

Hi I have a 2000 accord. The engine was swapped by the previous owner. They just cut the lines for the a/c and heating and just zip tied them inside the engine bay. I live in northeast PA where defrosters are necessary.
I was wondering:
1. Do I need to reconnect and charge the a/c for the heating. to work?
2. Can I just buy new lines for the heat and just have heating.
I can live without AC.
3. Do I need to charge the heat like u do for AC?
4. Do I need any type of fuild for the heating system?

I was given a new heating core with the car. Please help it was a nightmare trying to get to work td. Thank you I will try to respond as fast as possible to questions you may have.
I didnt really search the fourms so if there is a post on how to reinstall heat in the car can anyone post the link.
