Car wouldn't start--starter replaced--now wiring burnt out
It is unlikely that the starter wire will cause an engine fire or something catastrophic... odds are that you will simply get stranded when the car fails to start with the key. Charge harness issues have been common in "K" series applications since their inception here in the US in 2002, so replacing this part may likely solve your issue for now... and likely work for years to come. As for it causing a failure... maybe... but it is likely that the tech stopped diagnosing when he discovered the bad starter AND installed a sub-standard starter that failed quickly and doesn't want to do the warranty labor for free.
