Hey guys so I was driving to work 30mins ago for a 10hr shift and started smelling a lil plastic burning smell, I get to work and quickly pop the hood and overcheck everything and went inside cause I didn’t want to be late. But seems like the smell is coming from the Intake mainfold gasket area. My coolant temp is always good. I get good gas mileage. B20 basic tune on hondata s300 no codes either. Possibly Bad gasket? Any ideas what it could be ? I wont have a whole lot of time when im off so Im trying narrow it down what it could be

 

I have had the center bearing in a Civic distributor overheat and melt the plastic rotor off the end of the shaft. This causes a stall out and cranks but no start.

 

was there red dust from the bearing ? I have a 10mm socket I can pop it off and check the Rotor cap once Im off work or ill go mess with it on my break

I don't think there was any dust. Just heat damage. The check for any bearing is to take the unit off so you can see if it spins properly by hand. You may not want to do that away from home though.
