Default 2018 Accord Brake Sensitivity

Hi All,

Has anyone experienced an overly sensitive brake pedal in the 2018+ accord? Sensitive to the point where it's hard to stop smoothly because there's less than an inch of brake pedal before I have 100% of my brakes. I have also driven many other 18+ accords and none of them have the same issue as mine. It feels as if the brake pedal travel is way too short and extremely aggressive. Typically I would expect 10% brake application to give me 10% braking power. Then 20% application would give me 20% power, etc. However it feels like 10% application gives 50% of my braking power making it difficult, especially at low speeds, to stop smoothly. There is a very small amount of room to work with to stop smoothly.

As mentioned above, I have driven several new 18+ accords, and none of them feel the way mine do. They all have a longer pedal travel which feels normal. The brake booster was already replaced because originally there was a step in my brakes as mentioned in this forum. This helped. I then bled the brake lines as well and that also helped make my brakes more linear because they were holding inconsistent pressure and binary before. My final problem is the pedal travel feels extremely short, especially compared to all of the other Accords I have driven.

If anyone has experienced this or can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I’m also wondering if maybe the push rod connecting the brake booster and master cylinder needs to be shortened to increase the free play in the brake pedal. I wonder if when the booster was replaced the push rod wasn't perfectly adjusted causing minimal free play making the pedal feel more sensitive. This would at least lower the engagement of the brakes a bit and add some give to the pedal.
